Whatever your goals, we tailor personalized cosmetic procedures to get you the look you desire without the downtime and side-effects of a surgical procedure.
There are a variety of dermal fillers available today that can diminish the signs of aging. As we age, our faces begin to show the effects of gravity, exposure to the sun, and years of facial muscle movement, such as smiling and squinting. The underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful begin to break down, often leaving laugh lines, smile lines or facial creases over the areas where this muscle movement occurs.
Injectable fillers can help fill in these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks.
Botox is the number one cosmetic dermatology procedure in the United States, with 3.8 million treatments in 2005. Botox was introduced in the late 1980s by ophthalmologists for treating optic muscle disorders. It was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2002, helping millions of patients get rid of nagging facial lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to lift the eyebrows, and help smooth lines around the mouth. It is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. Botox typically reduces wrinkles by 80 percent. Botox injection is performed in the office, usually without anesthesia. However, a numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area.
Although people often call all muscle relaxers “Botox”, we offer three different types of relaxants, especially Xeomin® to suit various goals. Dr. Wiley will select the relaxant that is best suited for your skin type, age, and goals.
Restylane® is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is injected into the skin to restore volume to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane enhances your natural looks by restoring your skin’s volume, creating softness and revitalizing your appearance. Restylane is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle. The gel provides hydration and structure and gives natural volume to smooth away the appearance of lines, enhance facial shape, or create fuller lips. The treatment is very quick and often takes less than 30 minutes. The treatment benefits can normally be seen instantly and Restylane does not affect facial expression. No skin test is required because Restylane does not contain any animal-derived ingredients. You can expect slight redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and/or bruising following Restylane treatment. This is the same as you might expect with any type of injection. However, the discomfort is temporary and generally disappears after a few days.
Perlane® is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is injected into the skin to restore volume to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Perlane® has larger gel particles than Restylane® and is intended to be injected deeper into the skin. Perlane® lasts around six months. However, results may vary and correction is temporary. Supplemental “touch up” treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.
Common uses for Perlane® filler include:
o Wrinkle correction
o Diminishing worry lines, smile lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines at corners of the mouth, and smoker’s lines
o Lip enhancement
o Reducing the severity of nasolabial folds
o Chin augmentation
o Filling cheek depressions
o Redefining lip border
o Softening acne scars
o Correcting facial depressions caused by fat loss
o Softening the appearance of jowls
Radiesse® dermal filler is made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. It can restore a healthy, youthful appearance, and enhance existing features. Results last up to a year or more for many patients. However, results may vary and correction is temporary. No pretesting for allergies is required with Radiesse®. Once injected, Radiesse dermal filler starts a process called neocollagenesis, or the creation of new collagen. It stimulates collagen production in your own body and encourages collagen growth around the injection site. In many cases, results may last up to a year or more.
